Daisy Lowe loves women’s bodies

| Sunday, May 9, 2010
The 21-year-old model doesn’t understand why she would be criticised for posing naked because she thinks her curvy frame, and all versions of the female form, should be celebrated.

She said: 'The female form is a beautiful thing. People are like, 'Oh, you get naked all the time.’ I got naked twice – just twice – and yes, maybe that’s twice too many, but I think that women’s bodies are great.'

However, the brunette beauty – who is dating 'Doctor Who’ actor Matt Smith - insists there is nothing sordid about nudity.

She added to Vogue magazine: 'I don’t want to do pornos. It’s a tasteful thing.'

Daisy also defended her fashion choices, and believes people should never be criticised for their style.

She said: 'I thought the whole point was to have fun with clothes? Sorry if that offends anyone.'

Gwyneth Paltrow says wearing shorts is 'ridiculous'

|
Gwyneth Paltrow thinks wearing shorts as a 37-year-old mother-of-two is "ridiculous".

The actress - who has children Apple, five and Moses, four, with Coldplay singer Chris Martin - admits she has to work hard to maintain her trim physique, but her friend Tracy Anderson's dance workout helps her get into shape.

She said: "This 26-minute long video was an amazing start for getting the butt and legs I had always hoped for.

"This regime got me into the shape of my life and I continue to return to it when I have a specific event so that I can do ridiculous things like be a 37-year-old mother-of-two and wear shorts!"

Writing in her GOOP newsletter, Gwyneth also claims she has to diet in short spurts to get good results.

"To really get in line, I follow her strict diet for five days to lose my extra winter weight. Now, I am not a good dieter and I cannot every do it for long - only when there is a goal in sight, which there was in this case."

Previously the 'Iron Man 2' star has revealed her distaste at the idea of dieting, and claims she puts on weight as soon as she thinks about cutting down on food.

She said: "I had to work hard to get it like this, but now I'm here it's so great because I don't have to think about it. I can just enjoy life. What a relief is that.

"I can eat what I want, as long as I exercise, which is just as well, because if I put the word 'diet' into my brain, I immediately gain a stone."

Katie Melua unsure of her sexuality

|
The 25-year-old singer – who was previously in a relationship with Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard - admits she is often confused by her attractions to people, but is currently single.

She said: 'We live in the 21st century - questions of sexuality are not outdated, but I don’t think the lines are very clear and they are not always clear to me.

'I can tell you that I’m single, which is not lovely, but it is what it is. I really don’t think whether you are gay or not is the whole identity of a person. It’s just one side; it doesn’t have to be the thing that defines you.'

In 2006, reports surfaced that Katie had formed a close friendship with openly lesbian photographer Lara Bloom, although no romantic relationship was ever confirmed.

Discussing her latest album 'The House’ – masterminded by legendary musician-and-producer William Orbit – Katie claims it is a departure from her previous work and a journey of self discovery for her.

She said: 'If this is album is about something, it’s the puzzle of being alive, the mind maze of going inside your head and trying to figure out what the hell is going on in there.'

Lindsay Lohan denies drug problem

|
Lindsay Lohan denies she has a prescription drug problem.

The troubled actress - who has rehab three times before for drug and alcohol issues - claims she is now clean and has rid herself of negative people.

Asked if she had a drug problem, she said: "No, I don't. No, I don't. I work. And, if I go out with my friends, I am 23 and I am allowed to do that.

"I am working. And I'm good. And I'm surrounded by great friends now. You know, I have weeded out a lot of people in my life."

Although she claims to be clean of substances, the 'Mean Girls' star does say the attention she receives has been detrimental to her film career.

She told 'The Early Show' television programme: "The only problem is that it distracts from me getting jobs, and that's when it hurts me - especially when it's not true."

Earlier this week Lindsay and her mother Dina sparked concern when they were seen partying into the early hours at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont hotel.

An onlooker said: "Lindsay didn't look good. Her face is so puffy and she seemed exhausted. And everyone around is just looking at Dina like, 'Why the hell are you partying with your daughter?' Doesn't she see what she's doing and how weird and wrong it is?"

Noel Gallagher to call his baby Carlos

| Thursday, May 6, 2010
Noel Gallagher plans to call his baby Carlos.

The former Oasis guitarist – who already has a daughter, Anais, nine, from his previous marriage to Meg Matthews, and two-year-old son Donovan with his current partner Sara MacDonald – plans to pay tribute to his sporting hero, Manchester City soccer player Carlos Tevez, when he becomes a father for the third time in September.

He said: "The new baby, if it's a boy – Sara doesn’t know this yet – is definitely going to be called Carlos. Yeah, without a doubt. Or just Tevez. Tevez Gallagher. Carlito Gallagher. She doesn't know this, but I'll nip out to the Marylebone Registry Office while she's having a nap."

The musician also admitted Sara’s pregnancy has scuppered his plans to spend this summer in South Africa for the soccer World Cup.

He added in a video interview for The Football Association website: "I was planning on going but I went and got my missus pregnant didn't I. I should have knocked her up when I got back or something instead."

Noel, 42, will now have to watch the tournament on television, but admits he still gets so involved in the action, he often frightens his children.

He explained: 'Anais isn’t into football, she thinks it’s boring. She can’t grasp the concept of dads standing up watching the TV, because I do that and shout and she’s just going, 'Daddy, sit down, you’re scaring me.’ '

Justin Bieber doesn't know what German means

|
Justin Bieber had no idea what `German` was when he appeared on New Zealand television this week.

The pint-sized Canadian pop star was being interviewed in a New Zealand television show when the host asked him if it was True or False if Bieber was the German word for Basketball.

"I don't know what that means," he asked inquiring about what "German" was. The TV host showed him the question to which he replied, "we don't say that in America".

Thank God for Canada that Bieber suggested he was American and not Canadian.

Later in a Twitter post Bieber tried to explain that he thought the interviewer said "Jewman". On Twitter he wrote, "because I thought this interviewer in NZ said "Jewman" instead of "German" people think I dont know what German is?"

That still doesn't explain why even after shown the question he still didn't know what it meant.

Check out what happened here:

Lady Gaga dragged out by Oprah

| Wednesday, May 5, 2010
Lady Gaga had to be dragged out of her dressing room by Oprah Winfrey after suffering from stage fright.

The 'Telephone’ singer hid backstage prior to her performance at the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (03.05.10) – which was attended by an exclusive crowd of 700, including Anne Hathaway, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez – but the talk show host helped her overcome her nerves.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: "She literally wouldn't come out. Friends tried, Warner Music executive Lyor Cohen tried, no dice. Eventually, Vito Schnabel came over and got artist Terence Koh on the phone to talk to her, which helped. Koh and Oprah were the ones who finally coaxed her out."

However, the eccentric performer was told she could only perform at US Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s annual fete on the premise she was polite and didn’t swear on stage.

She quipped to the crowd in New York City: "I'll never forget when Anna Wintour called me to play at this event, she called me and said, 'I would like you to play at the Met gala, but I just want to make sure, because I've seen you perform before, that you won't be swearing during the performance.' So Anna, I will do my f**king best!"

The 'Just Dance’ hitmaker’s performance seemingly got the guests in the mood for a singsong, as a number of A-list stars belted out tracks at the exclusive after party at the Mark Hotel.

A source added: "Pharrell Williams first jumped in and started singing 'Beautiful,' and then Sean Combs jumped up and started rapping to 'All About the Benjamins.' He even grabbed Anna Wintour into the deejay booth. Finally, Usher and Justin Timberlake joined in.

Jennifer Lopez loves a treat

|
Jennifer Lopez refuses to deny herself certain foods.

The singer-and-actress – famed for her perfectly curvy figure – likes to keep her diet varied and will indulge in the occasional treat but knows she can’t do it all the time if she wants to maintain her enviable body.

She said: 'Just like anybody I try to watch what I eat - there's no big science to it, which is what sucks.

'One of the good tricks is to have a goal - for me it may be getting in shape for a video shoot. The other is portion control. I love to eat everything and you pretty much can - a little piece of something fattening is not going to kill you. It's when you eat the whole box that it's going to kill you.'

Jennifer – who has two-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with husband Marc Anthony – also says she’s never felt pressure to be a size zero and has always been confident about her sexy curves.

She said: 'I was always very comfortable with who I was. I've never looked at myself in a negative way.'

When Jennifer first became a worldwide star, a lot of attention was given to her shapely behind but she insists she never paid too much attention to the stories, even when it was rumoured she had insured it for $1 million.

The 'Back-up Plan’ beauty added to Marie Claire magazine: 'I thought that story was funny. In fact, we traced that story, and that was a rumour that started in London.

'But I was honestly at that time was in such a work fog I didn't even notice. Now that I've had time to sit I appreciate and love everything in a different way, and I think that's because of the kids too. I just think of life in a different way: back then it was just about the grind.'

Rihanna’s boyfriend loves her sense of fun

|
Los Angeles Dodgers baseball star Matt Kemp has finally opened up about his relationship with the singer – who he was first romantically linked to in January – admitting he has never been happier.

When asked if they are a couple, he said: 'Yeah! That’s my girl.

"She's just a fun person. I love to be around her. She's definitely a great person in my life, and I'm happy I'm with her.'

Rihanna is currently on the European leg of her 'Last Girl on Earth' tour and the sportsman can’t wait to be reunited with her when she returns to the US.

He added to Us Weekly magazine: "She's definitely not gonna be here for a little while. Hopefully when she gets back she'll be at a couple more games."

The 22-year-old star recently revealed she and Matt, 25, rely on the internet to keep their romance alive when they are apart.

Rihanna – who is getting ready to bring her tour to the UK - said: "I'm really happy right now. I was hoping Matt would be able to come to London but he's working. And I'm touring and shooting videos for my next single so it's going to be seven weeks before I see him again.

I Am Kloot to release fith album

| Tuesday, May 4, 2010
I Am Kloot are set to release their stunning fifth studio album, 'Sky at Night’ on July 5th.

Following 2007’s 'I Am Kloot Play Moolah Rouge’, the album further goes to cement John Bramwell’s status as one of the most talented songwriters in the country.

Proud Manchester men they may be, but the record is infused with an almost Parisian elegance. Tracks like 'It’s Just The Night’ and 'The Moon Is A Blind Eye’ reveal a Gainsbourg style of sophistication, but are still punctuated with their own inimitable Northern soul.

Opening with the warm, rolling 'Northern Skies’, it’s followed by 'To The Brink’, a decadently faded show tune, with celestial strings balancing delicately against the kind of poignant musings more typically found at the bottom of a brandy glass.

The theatrical instrumentation of 'Lately’ is lush and impressive, whilst remaining explicit and honest. Renowned harpist Marie Lionheardt provides a delicate accompaniment to the moving narrative in 'I Still Do’, while 'Radiation’ touches upon the Beatles’ more psychedelic moments of orchestration.

A songwriter’s songwriter, Bramwell is one of our finest wordsmiths and counts Pete Doherty and Elbow’s Guy Garvey amongst his many fans. Having produced their hugely acclaimed debut album 'Natural History’ Garvey, alongside band mate Craig Potter, has returned to produce and mix this sublime ten track collection.

With 'Sky at Night’, expect Kloot’s cult status to soar skywards.

The tracklisting for 'Sky at Night’ is:

'Northern Skies’
'To the Brink’
'Fingerprints’
'Lately’
'I Still Do’
'The Moon Is A Blind Eye’
'Proof’
'It's Just the Night’
'Radiation’
'Same Shoes’

I Am Kloot is – John Bramwell (vocals/guitar), Andrew Hargreaves (drums), Peter Jobson (bass).

Doves and Editors join Oxegen

| Sunday, May 2, 2010
With the countdown to OXEGEN well and thoroughly under way, we thought we’d help ramp up the excitement levels even further with the addition of 13 more sensational acts!

Indie and Rock are to the fore in today’s announcement and Bell X1 are without doubt one of the most important bands to emerge from Ireland over the last couple of decades. They’ve notched up four critically acclaimed albums and have enjoyed phenomenal success both here and in the USA.

Doves have achieved worldwide record sales of over two million amid universal critical acclaim, with two number one albums and two Mercury nominations. Back at OXEGEN after a great performance on the second stage last year, Doves are touring their 'Best Of’ collection The Places Between.

Debut album The Back Room established Editors as one of the UK’s best bands. Their follow-up An End Has A Start went to number 1 and earned the band a Brit Award nomination for Best Band. Their brand of dark indie rock reached new heights on In This Light and on This Evening.

Two years ago, Scouting For Girls stole our hearts with a clutch of contagious hits (She’s So Lovely, Heartbeat, It’s Not About You, Elvis Ain’t Dead). New single This Ain’t A Love Song builds on that success and is taken from the new LP Everybody Wants To Be On TV.

Ocean Colour Scene will be celebrating their 21st anniversary next year and have clocked up an impressive eleven Top 20 singles and five Top 10 albums during their illustrious career. Always a big hit with Irish fans, it’s great to have them back at OXEGEN.

Kate Nash’s intelligent and insanely catchy single Foundations reached number two in the singles charts and helped propel her first album to No.1. New release 'My Best Friend Is You’ has already been met with much critical acclaim. Expect her to be a name on everyone’s lips by the time she returns to Punchestown.

Led by iconic frontman Ian McCulloch, Echo And The Bunnymen have been enthralling fans for three decades. Their last album, 'The Fountain’, was released in 2009 and confirmed their genius hasn’t diminished in the slightest with new track Think I Do ranking alongside classics Nothing Lasts Forever and Killing Moon.

Joshua Radin captured the public imagination when his songs were included on a string of hit US TV shows. Those who caught his recent show at Dublin’s Academy will know that this is an artist in the tradition of greats like Nick Drake and Elliott Smith--confessional folk-pop craftsmen who could say more with a whisper than most can with a scream.

Also added to the OXEGEN bill are Manchester four-piece The Courteeners, hard rocking rebels Airbourne and their Australian compatriots The Middle East – one of the most talked about bands at SXSW this year.

Two of our most popular Irish acts complete today’s announcement. Meteor Music Award winning Dublin act The Coronas put in a storming set when they played the Main Stage at OXEGEN on the Friday last year and also sold out three dates at The Academy in January.

2009 saw Republic of Loose play the US for three sold out tours. They returned to Ireland for OXEGEN and to open up for U2 at Croke Park on their 360 tour. In December, the band were nominated in Q Magazine’s 'Albums of the Century’.

OXEGEN returns to Punchestown from 9th-11th July (subject to licence).

The Ticket Deposit Scheme is available again this year, so €120 deposit will secure your ticket, with the remaining balance payable by 31st May 2010. Ticket prices remain frozen since 2008 with a 3 day camping ticket costing €224.50 (incl booking fee).

Acoustic line-up revealed for Wickerman Festival

|
International acoustic act 'Emmet Scanlan and What The Good Thought' are set to headline the Acoustic Village at this summer’s Wickerman Festival.

The Galway based 5-piece are a colourful fusion of Scots, Irish, Swedes and Italians. The unusual mix of instrumentation and nationalists is reflected in the music which is described as 'Veering away from the norm but embraced by the majority.'

Grabbing another top billing slot is the youthful Rachel Sermanni, the Highlands based songstress will entertain the acoustic faithful with her unique take on lyrical folk music.

Her audience can expect fiddles, piano and according to her website ghostly noises and shoobaps.

The distantly spaced cities of Sydney and Aberdeen are responsible for the talented trio who are otherwise known as The String Contingent. They will present the Wickerman audience with a highly individual blend of baroque chamber music, Scottish fiddle and bluegrass.

Other confirmed performers for the July event include alternative country soloist Jill Jackson (ex Speedway) and perennial festival favourite Andi Neate.

Festival regulars will also notice that for 2010 the Acoustic Village will swap places with the Bass Camp Dance Village, this will now place the acoustic acts within a stone’s throw of the festivals quiet camping field.

Acoustic booker Nicola Black welcomed the move saying 'Much of our audience are family orientated and it makes perfect sense for us to pitch up next to the quieter elements of the festival.'

The Wickerman Festival takes place on the 23rd & 24th July at East Kirkcarswell Farm, near Kirkcudbright on the Solway Coast. Acts announced so far include Ocean Colour Scene, The Saw Doctors, The Futureheads, Codeine Velvet Club, The Grass Mountain Hobos, The Undertones and many more. Further headline acts for the main stage, dance arena and scooter tent are expected to be announced soon.

Taking on the duel responsibilities of both host and performer, Nik Kershaw was an absolute 80’s heart throb! It wasn’t all about his looks though, as he enjoyed worldwide success with hits including Wouldn’t It Be Good and The Riddle and will be bringing his brand of eighties rock to the Indigo2.

Howard Jones penned some of the most thought provoking and meaningful tracks of any decade. From New Song to Like To Get To Know You Well, every song had a message that audiences took to their hearts. Known for his exceptional acoustic performances, Howard will be right at home performing at Our Friends Acoustic.

Also on the bill are the incomparable China Crisis who dominated the US charts throughout the eighties. A brilliant mix of new wave and post punk, the band are making sure it isn’t just Wishful Thinking that they’re part of this unique night of music in aid of learning disability charity, Mencap.

The flame haired beauty who fronted T’Pau, Carol Decker, will be bringing her soul soaked vocals to the gig, giving the evening its Heart and Soul. Her track, China In Your Hands was a defining musical moment in the eighties and continues to be hit with audiences over twenty years on, making her appearance at Our Friends Acoustic an absolute must see.

The line-up wouldn’t be complete without Steve Strange who kick-started a whole new era of sound with his band Visage. He had the complete package, the look, the voice, the style and was de rigueur for anyone who aspired to be cool..... Mr. Strange continues to have that same cachet today!

Mencap supports the 1.5 million people with a learning disability in the UK and their families and carers. Mencap fights to change laws and improve services and access to education, employment and leisure facilities, supporting thousands of people with a learning disability to live their lives the way they want.

Deftones to play intimate London show

|
One of the most respected and enduring forces in modern rock music, Deftones return with the May 3rd release of their sixth full studio 'Diamond Eyes’. Previously available as a limited free download, the track 'Rocket Skates’ sparked a flurry of anticipation among fans when it was debuted on the band’s official site in February.

The band has announced that they will play a very intimate show in London on May 12th at The ULU. This very special show will be filmed as part of the 'MTV Presents' series. To be in with a chance of being there you will need to get over to www.ukundercurrent.com.

Tickets and album bundles will go on sale at 2pm on April 28th 2010. The album will be available on CD, Digital and Vinyl formats

Prices and formats are as follows:
Ticket: £25.00
Ticket+Digital Download: £31.99
Ticket+CD: £34.99
Ticket+ Limited Edition White Vinyl (with a download card ) : £42.99

Produced and mixed by Nick Raskulinecz (Alice in Chains, Coheed & Cambria, Foo Fighters), and recorded and engineered by Paul "Fig" Figueroa (Alice in Chains, Bad Religion), 'Diamond Eyes’ is a powerful combination of muscular impact and expansive atmospherics clarity that charts the latest development in the band’s ever growing sonic range.

Opening with the title track’s grinding riffs and near subliminal hook, the album’s range encompasses the blowtorch attack of 'CMND/CNTRL’ and the sinister melancholy that underpins 'Beauty School’. As ever, the album blends the band’s seamless ability to float between genres; 'Sex Tape’ glides with an eerie, discomforting beauty, while the combination of battering rhythms and Chino Moreno’s harsh howl ensure that 'Royal’ demonstrates Deftones’ continuing ability to enthrall with visceral sounds.

'Diamond Eyes’ also represents former Quicksand bassist Sergio Vega’s recording debut with Deftones. Vega is standing in for Chi Cheng, who was seriously injured in a car accident in November 2008.

The album’s title track will be the band’s next full single release and is due out on May 3rd.

Deftones will return to the UK to play the Download festival on June 12th.

Everything Everything UK dates

| Tuesday, April 27, 2010
lmagine a band who fuse three part harmonies with scalding post-punk guitars; floor-filling bass lines with syncopated rhythms and lyrics about everything from high-school massacres to R&B lotharios musing on their lot in a post-apocalyptic wilderness.

Not easy, is it? But then Everything Everything aren't here to make life easy. They're here to challenge every knee-jerk convention of indie rock and dance on the grave of pointless retrogression.

Chances are you've come across EE before. Chances are they perplexed, intrigued and if you've an ear for something special, they excited you. They first accosted our senses with 'Suffragette Suffragette' in Dec 08, followed by 'Photoshop Handsome' in May and third single 'MY KZ, UR BF' in Oct 09.

Having whipped up interest in all quarters via these low key releases (they've acquired fans ranging from Zane Lowe to 6Music's Marc Riley, played two UK tours- including an advance sold out ICA show as an unsigned band, notched up a top spot on MTV2's My Space Chart and been tipped by the likes of NME and Times Culture), they signed to Geffen Records in late 2009.

'Schoolin'' is the first single to be taken from their recently completed, David Kosten co-produced debut album (title tbc) due for release in August. It seems set to be the breakthrough debut album of 2010.

Live, the band are poised to head out on the NME Radar tour co-headlining with Hurts followed by the main support slot on Delphic's forthcoming dates in May before the summer festivals kick in. EE are so far confirmed to play Reading & Leeds, Glastonbury, Latitude (headlining the Lake Stage) and Bestival.

Full dates:

Josh Kelley is a 'spectacular' dad says Katherine Heigl

|
Katherine Heigl says husband Josh Kelley is a 'spectacular' father.

The couple adopted 17-month-old Naleigh last year and the actress is completely in awe of how fantastic the singer is with their little girl.

She said: 'He’s spectacular. I couldn’t have even imagined a better father for her. She’s the luckiest little kid. We call him Disneyland Dad because as soon as he comes in, it’s fun and happiness and rides around the room on his shoulders. He’s attentive and involved. I never for a minute would question leaving her.'

Katherine left Josh in charge of Naleigh as she attended the 13th Annual ASPCA’s Bergh Ball in New York last night (26.04.10) and knew the tot was in good hands.

She said: 'This is the first time I’ve actually left her in six months, so it’s a little weird for me, but I knew she was in really good hands because Josh is fantastic with diapers, food, nap-time, playtime. He’s got it all.'

Since becoming a mother seven months ago, Katherine – who recently quit her role on US TV show 'Grey’s Anatomy’ to focus on her family - has become more in tune with her emotions as all she wants to do is protect her daughter.

She told America’s OK! magazine: 'Watching any film or television that deals with a mother and child story is so gut-wrenching in a way I could have never predicted. You have this empathy suddenly, this compassion for a mother going through anything difficult or complicated with a child because suddenly I understand that unbelievable drive and instinct to protect. Protect, make them happy, shelter them, give them everything they need in life to be happy. That was a weird feeling. I was like, 'That’s a lot of pressure.’

Lovebox Weekender changes shape

|
So you might have heard that London’s beloved Lovebox Weekender is going to be slightly different this year – it has now been expanded from two days to three days for a start, with the storied likes of Roxy Music, Ellie Goulding, Yeasayer, Mystery Jets, The Maccabees and the Noisettes playing alongside exclusive festival coups such as Empire of the Sun, Mark Ronson & The Business and others. And that’s before we mention the new additions – critically lauded art rockers These New Puritans, returning Australian champions Midnight Juggernauts, lush chillwave purveyors Toro Y Moi, rollicking chart toppers Bombay Bicycle Club, and Mercury Music Prize nominees The Invisible among them. What you may (or may not!) have heard is that this year, Sunday is also going to be really rather different. Rather radically different, actually.

Far from being simply another glorious festival day, Sunday at Lovebox, in an unprecedented move for any summer festival around, is transforming into its very own unique beast this year – becoming a freewheeling, groundbreaking, no-holds-barred, non-stop polysexual party, pulling together elements of the very best gay clubs, fiercest underground parties, cutting edge fashion, hottest emergent artists and, of course, outrageous, unmissable live acts to create a hedonistic all-dayer like no other.

The live acts are the first clue to this sea change – a splendidly offbeat collision course of celebrated legends, renowned provocateurs and white hot new stars in the making. Towering above mere mortals as the headliner is the one and only diva Grace Jones, the unstoppable one-woman superstar who never ceases to amaze with her undimmed penchant for sedition and subversion, as proven by her comeback in 2008. Electro pop juggernauts Hot Chip, fresh from the critical acclaim showered upon them for their latest effort, 'One Life Stand', will also be bringing their inimitable brand of cerebral yet eminently loveable dance music to the masses. The unstoppable glam disco machine known as Hercules and Love Affair also return to enthrall once more, transporting us from Victoria Park to the heyday of Studio 54 with their irrepressible, glitter-strewn music, while the ever rebellious Peaches is also set to excite and unsettle with her patented controversial live act. New moody electro tykes Hurts are also set to make an appearance, and brand new additions Fenech Soler will get festivalgoers moving with their insidiously addictive synth pop.

Over on the Gaymers Stage, beloved duo Chromeo, will be airing new material from their forthcoming new album 'Business Casual', to be released in the summer, and who say of Lovebox: 'If you’re talking anatomy here, you know that’s where we set up shop, schlep in our keyboards and make said box boom with sixty minutes of funk'. Also present and correct are Holy Ghost!, the DFA protégées who are currently blowing up stereos around the world with their deliriously catchy take on punk funk, and Cut Copy, who, in a UK festival exclusive, break their hiatus to dazzle us once more with their incomparably gorgeous, nostalgic, tear-streaked pop. Also, brand new Moshi Moshi signings Silver Columns will undoubtedly win crowds over with tracks from their deliciously offbeat, imminent debut 'YES AND DANCE'; as they themselves declare, they are 'intensely excited about impregnating the Lovebox massive with out electro-pop hymns,we’re on mid-afternoon and are hoping to whirl the audience into exhaustion, so we can push past everyone and get to the front for Hot Chip and Grace Jones!'

As if that isn’t enough, Lovebox 2010 will also see the return of NYC Downlow (pictured), the infamous US import which fuses cabaret, performance and music in one strikingly unmissable individual space and which can only be witnessed in all its eye-popping glory here. And manning the decks at the Downlow, Lovebox will also have the crème de la crème of envelope-pushing gay disco DJ troupes with Wet Yourself, Disco Bloodbath, Trailer Trash and Horse Meat Disco - four of the most influential, exciting and innovative DJ crews around right now, as can be seen from their deliriously crowded and gloriously messy parties around the globe – just some of the heavy hitters representing on the day, ready to melt eager festivalgoers into a sweaty puddle with their inimitable quest for debauched thrills and spills on the dancefloor. To add to the dance frenzy, the seminal Chicago house music pioneer Larry Heard, aka Mr Fingers, will be making his UK exclusive at Lovebox, while the legendary Derrick Carter will also be demolishing the dancefloors with his strain of underground house, honed to perfection over the years. Similarly, for the first time ever, Wish will also be hosting at Lovebox, which, for those not in the know, is a defiantly niche and groundbreaking mixed crowd party for gay women and polysexual lovers of uncommercial techno.

And then, of course, there is the big daddy of them all – Salvation. Famous for being not only one of London’s biggest circuit parties but also the biggest gay party anywhere else in the world, it has played host to some of London’s most decadent venues in London, starting in 1998 at the Café de Paris before moving onto larger venues like Pacha, the Bloomsbury Ballroom and its current home the Hippodrome, in the throbbing heart of London’s West End, which saw its 10th birthday celebrations last year. It is a staple of the London dance scene, one of the UK’s most loved and well-respected events, and it’s here at Lovebox, with two of its most cherished DJs, Olivier M and Sharon O Love.

Jaguar Love head to the UK

|
Blood Brothers may have betrayed their blood oath by breaking up, but the spirit of that raucous Seattle act lives on in Jaguar Love. Despite being mainly based in Seattle and Portland, the duo basically live on the road and have played live with the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age (Rob Pope of Spoon played bass for Jaguar Love on a recent tour), TV on the Radio and more. Jaguar Love will be bringing their frenetically raucous live show to the UK for Stag And Dagger and Great Escape Festivals amongst select additional dates.

Forthcoming release 'Hologram Jams’ is the first Jaguar Love album to feature the band’s stripped down and rebuilt from the ground up two-piece line up of Johnny Whitney (Vocals, keys, drum machines) and Cody Votolato (Guitars, vocals, drum machines), both formerly of the late, lamented Blood Brothers. 'Cody and I have always had a strong bond, both creatively and as friends - and working on this album together was the most productive, free flow of ideas I have ever been a part of,' said Whitney.

During their short career so far the band’s inimitable sound has inspired the folks at Matador Records, who signed one album and an EP, as well as Fat Possum, who have now signed them to a worldwide deal.

Sophomore full-length 'Hologram Jams’ reunited Cody and Johnny with producer John Goodmanson (Bikini Kill, Los Campesinos!, Death Cab For Cutie), who also produced Blood Brothers’ 100,000+ selling 'Crimes’ and co-produced the subsequent 'Young Machetes’ with Guy Picciotto of Fugazi fame. Goodmanson co-produced with Votolato and Whitney on this one too and the resulting sound combines soulful howls colliding with and coursing over relentless dance beats and heavy glam guitars. Hologram Jams is bursting with hooks

Paris Hilton better off without Doug Reinhardt

| Thursday, April 22, 2010

The socialite – who recently ended her 14-month romance with the reality TV star – insists she is already over the break-up and is ready to move on with her life.

She said: "I am, like, so past that - I don't even care. I don't even remember that time in my life. I am over it!

"I just realised that I'm better off without him. So I ended it because I deserve something much better! He wasn't right for me and I will eventually find somebody who loves me for who I am."

Paris, 29, has already been approached by several guys, but isn’t planning to get romantically involved with anyone in the near future.

She added to Usmagazine.com: "I love it! I am having so much fun. A lot of guys have obviously hit on me and I am getting thousands of calls, but I'm not ready to be with anyone.

'I want to stay focused on myself and my family and my work. Then, maybe in six months or a year... but for right now, I'm just too busy for a relationship."
